Metroid Dread does not have cheat codes. The game includes sequence breaks, EMMI evasion techniques, and hidden Power-Up locations that significantly reduce completion time and increase Samus's combat effectiveness.
SEQUENCE BREAKS
Sequence breaks let you access areas or items before the intended game order.
Early Grapple Beam:
The Grapple Beam normally requires completing the second EMMI zone.
In Artaria, find the Power Bomb tank room early by using the Spider Magnet on the ceiling above the main shaft.
Drop into the room from above rather than entering through the locked door.
This gives you access to items requiring the Grapple Beam 2 hours before you receive it naturally.
Speed Booster Early:
The Speed Booster is normally your 4th major ability.
In Cataris, find the hidden room above the lava section by Wall Jumping to a breakable ceiling block.
This gives you Speed Booster in your second area instead of your fourth.
Early Speed Booster opens alternate routes through every zone you have already visited.
EMMI ZONE STRATEGIES
EMMIs detect Samus through sound and proximity. Every EMMI zone has the same core evasion system.
General rules:
Walk, never run, when inside an EMMI's patrol area.
The Flash Shift ability creates instant distance. Use it the moment an EMMI spots you.
Every EMMI zone has a safe room (marked by a white light above the door). Reach it when detected.
Specific EMMI types:
Ice EMMI (Artaria): Freezes Samus on contact. Use Phantom Cloak to pass directly through its patrol route.
Wave EMMI (Ghavoran): Fires through walls. Stay in the center of corridors where wall shots miss.
Storm EMMI (Itorash): Fastest movement speed of any EMMI. Sprint directly to the Omega Cannon without stopping.
POWER BOMB TANK LOCATIONS
Power Bomb Tanks increase your maximum Power Bomb count.
There are 9 Power Bomb Tanks total. Collecting all 9 gives you 14 maximum Power Bombs.
Artaria Power Bomb Tank 1:
In the lower section of Artaria, find the room with two rotating spike platforms.
Bomb the floor in the center of the room to reveal a hidden passage below.
The Power Bomb Tank is in the room beneath.
Cataris Power Bomb Tank:
In the lava section of Cataris, use Speed Booster to run through the red blocks on the right wall.
The tank is in a hidden room behind the red blocks. You need Speed Booster equipped.
Dairon Power Bomb Tank 1:
In the upper right section of Dairon, find the breakable ceiling above the power grid area.
Bomb the ceiling while Wall Jumping to reach the hidden room.
HIDDEN ENERGY TANK LOCATIONS
Energy Tanks increase your maximum health by 99 units.
There are 10 Energy Tanks total. Collecting all 10 makes late-game boss fights significantly more forgiving.
Burenia Energy Tank:
In the underwater section of Burenia, use the Gravity Suit to reach the far right room.
The tank is behind a Speed Booster block. Run from the left side of the room to break it.
Ferenia Energy Tank:
At the top of Ferenia's main shaft, use Spider Magnet to climb the ceiling.
The tank sits in a room accessible only from above. The door is invisible from below.
BOSS SPEEDRUN TIPS
Kraid:
Phase 1: Stand on the lowest platform and shoot only at his stomach. His stomach takes 3x more damage than any other body part.
Phase 2: Use Storm Missiles on his open mouth during roar animations. Three Storm Missile volleys end Phase 2.
Experiment Z-57:
Stay airborne during Phase 1. His ground attacks deal 0 damage to airborne Samus.
Phase 2: His suction attack pulls you toward him. Charge a beam shot and release it point-blank for massive damage.
