DEVOTION FARMING METHODS (ALL PLATFORMS)

Devotion fills your Temple meter and gives Doctrine Points for unlocking cult upgrades.

Shrine of Enlightenment:
Build two Shrines of Enlightenment in your base.
Each Shrine generates 10 Devotion per Follower per day passively.
With 10 Followers interacting with two Shrines, you earn 200 Devotion per in-game day.

Sermons:
Perform a Sermon at the Temple once per in-game day.
Sermons give 30 to 60 Devotion plus raise all Follower Faith by 10 percent.
Chain Sermons with meal times. Feed Followers before the Sermon for maximum Faith before the Faith boost.

Ritual of Enrichment:
Unlocked through the Devotion Doctrine tree.
Consumes 50 Devotion but gives 3x the Devotion back over the following day from increased Follower activity.
Run Ritual of Enrichment daily for a net positive Devotion loop.

BEST DOCTRINE SELECTIONS

Doctrines permanently change how your cult operates. Choose them in this order:

Tier 1 Doctrines (choose first):
Enlightenment I: Shrines of Enlightenment generate Devotion. Essential for passive income.
Work is Worship I: Followers work without needing rest breaks. Removes downtime from your base economy.

Tier 2 Doctrines:
Ritual of Resurrection: Bring dead Followers back to life once per Ritual. Keeps your high-Faith Followers from permanently dying.
Possessions II: Increases the value of offerings from high-Faith Followers. Your top-tier Followers give 3x standard offering value.

Tier 3 Doctrines:
Sacrifice the Weak: Execute low-health old Followers for a temporary damage boost on your next Crusade. Removes Followers who would die naturally anyway while giving you a combat reward.

Doctrines to avoid early:
Cannibal I and II: Feeding Followers each other reduces Faith over time. The Devotion bonus does not offset the Faith management cost until you have 15 or more Followers.

CRUSADE WEAPON PRIORITY

You take one weapon and one Tarot Card into each Crusade.

Best weapons by style:
Hammer: Highest single-hit damage. Slow swing speed. Best against bosses with large hit boxes.
Dagger: Fastest attack speed. Best for clearing groups of small enemies quickly.
Axe: Balanced damage and speed. Best all-round weapon for any Crusade difficulty.
Sword: Long reach with sweeping attacks. Best for tight corridors in Silk Cradle and Anchordeep.

Best Tarot Cards:
The Hunger: Every kill restores 1 HP. In long Crusade runs with many rooms, this card heals 30 to 50 HP total.
The Fool: Adds 1 extra life. In Crusade runs where boss fights pose the highest risk, this card prevents run-ending deaths.
Temperance: Increases all damage dealt by 15 percent. The flat damage increase outperforms most situational cards.

FOLLOWER MANAGEMENT

Keep your Follower count at 10 to 15 before attempting the final two bosses.
Each additional Follower above 10 gives diminishing returns on Devotion but increases your base food consumption significantly.
Assign your oldest Followers to the cemetery when they reach age 3 to 4 (in-game years). Dying naturally causes Faith loss for all nearby Followers. Planned removal avoids this.
